ANE’S OIL AND WATERCOLOR ART
Ane Haycraft nee Rørmose had an early introduction to art. Born and educated in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Danish school system required art education in all grades through high school. In addition , her father was an amateur and prolific art collector, and as a teenager, she often accompanied him to art exhibits, where they discussed the merits of various paintings. She also accompanied her father to pleasant “hygge” visits in the artists’ homes. Ane was educated as a registered nurse, but soon was off on another trajectory as an army wife, raising three sons and managing to make a home in 22 different locations in the United States and Europe. While living at West Point NY she started her more formal art education, emphasizing oil painting, with a a noted artist north of West Point, along the Hudson River. Additional formal art education followed, as her frequent moves allowed. While maintaining a home in Arizona, she enrolled in classes in watercolor art, which included class time in Sedona, Arizona and Umbria, Italy. Her work in both oils and watercolors can be described as impressionistic. Now, with a home in northern Virginia her current interests range from flowers to the wooded landscapes found in the United States and Europe.
